Casa l’Ànima is a detached single-family home completed in 2020, conceived as a balance between traditional building methods and a distinctly contemporary architectural language. The project brings together timber, iron and stone in a restrained composition where each material retains its own character, shaping an atmosphere that feels warm, solid and timeless.
Externally, stone gives the house a sense of permanence and establishes a natural connection with the surrounding landscape, while timber introduces a more domestic scale around the openings and roof elements. Inside, the structure is deliberately exposed and becomes an active part of the architecture. Timber ceiling beams coexist with precisely defined iron elements, creating a dialogue between warmth and structural clarity. At the time of construction, this combination expressed a forward-looking approach to traditional residential architecture.
Much of everyday family life is organised around the main living floor. Kitchen, dining area and living room flow into one another, creating a flexible shared environment particularly well suited to a family with children. Large glazed openings visually extend the interior towards the garden, allowing daylight and views of the greenery to become part of the domestic experience. The fireplace, incorporated into a dark central volume, provides a strong focal point and a natural gathering place within the open-plan space.
The programme also includes a garage on the ground floor and accommodation on the first floor, creating a home designed to respond naturally to the changing requirements of family life.
Conceived with a sustainable and progressive outlook for 2020, Casa l’Ànima illustrates how new-build residential construction can evolve while preserving the value of craftsmanship. Tradition and contemporary design are not treated as opposites here, but as complementary ways of creating durable, comfortable spaces shaped around everyday life.
